Rick McConnell
Rick is one of the co-founders of NWR and is also one of the announcers. He came to know Jesus in his last year in high school and has spent most of his career in Christian radio and ministry. He started in broadcasting in 1978 and has worked at numerous stations. He spent 6 years at Focus on the Family. In 1998 he started a comedy/drama radio feature known as AIRSHOW. Those short spots are now heard everyday on nearly 500 Christian stations around the country. top
Mike Trout
Mike began his broadcasting career in Los Angeles at a college owned (Biola) FM station back in 1967. Like many in radio, he moved around, always reaching up for the next rung on the ladder. That climb took him to several stations in Southern California, San Francisco, Chicago and New York. In 1981, a friend from his Biola days called and mentioned that a young ministry named Focus on the Family was looking for some help with their radio program. For the next 20 years, Mike helped build the broadcast outreach of Focus, joining the ministry's founder, Dr. James Dobson, in the studio as his co-host in 1985. In 2003, Mike began talking with Rick McConnell about Next Wave Radio and became a co-founder in 2004. Mike and his wife Marilyn enjoy bike riding and spending as much time as possible with their three daughters, one son, and two grandchildren. In the next few years they hope to put a bike ride across the United States together with their whole family. Maybe they’ll be able to stop at NWR affiliates all along the way.. top
John Dale
John began his broadcasting career voicing donor announcements at the urging of a friend for KJHK-FM in Lawrence, Kansas. His experience with radio was so positive he decided to major in Broadcast Journalism at The University of Kansas. After graduation John went to Kansas City to work for Bott Radio Network. In 1998 John (married to Kristin by now) moved his family to Colorado Springs to work in Focus on the Family’s Broadcast Production Department, where he began as an audio editor, moved to producer and eventually became the Production Department manager. When not working with NWR, John enjoys home improvement related activities, KU Basketball and stage acting. top
